Alexander Isak’s agent has sent a cryptic message following his client’s controversial switch to Liverpool.
Isak finally secured his dream move from Newcastle to Merseyside yesterday with the Premier League champions paying a British record fee of £125 to sign the Sweden international.
He leaves a furious fanbase behind after going public with his desire to leave, a stance that led to him being made to train alone and not being considered for Newcastle’s first three games of the new season.
There are also reports his situation led to a rift in the dressing room.
Isak heads home to escape controversy
Isak has joined up with the Sweden squad for international duty and will be relieved to be out of the glare of the English media for a short period.
But that hasn’t stopped his agent Vlado Lemic from taking what appears to be a parting shot at Newcastle.
In a message sent to talkSPORT, Lemic said: “It’s nice when you have someone to be with, but it is even nicer when you know who you will never be with again.”
Botman and Gordon send support to Isak
Some of Isak’s former team-mates have sent their best wishes to the 25-year-old, moves that haven’t gone down well with Newcastle fans.
Netherlands international Sven Botman wrote on Instagram: “What started off as team-mates growed in one of my rare best friendships. No more words needed brother, all the best in your next chapter @alex_isak [sic].”
That sentiment was backed up by England winger Anthony Gordon, who posted: “Regardless of the situation and what’s gone on. It’s been a pleasure to play with you.
“One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch, and more importantly, a great person and teammate.
“I wish you nothing but the best brother.”
