Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A champions Napoli.
The deal contains a £43million obligation to make the deal permanent that is contingent on certain conditions being met.
Hojlund has endured a frustrating time at Old Trafford following his move from Atalanta in July 2023.
The Denmark international has scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Red Devils, with that underwhelming tally a key factor in him falling out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim.
Still only 22, Hojlund will hope to revitalise his career with a return to Serie A, with his transfer giving Napoli reinforcements up front in the wake of the pre-season thigh injury suffered by Romelu Lukaku.
Hojlund’s move sees him reunite with former United midfielder Scott McTominay, who was named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player in 2024-25 as he inspired Napoli to the title in his first season in Italian football. McTominay also earned a Ballon d’Or nomination for his impressive form.
Napoli coach Antonio Conte will hope to elicit a resurgence from Hojlund as he targets a second successive Scudetto. Conte’s men have won each of their first two games of the Serie A season without conceding a goal.
