Premier League results today: Scores, highlights and stats

After Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 in the earlier game, four games started simultaneously in the Premier League on Saturday, August 30.

Manchester United were seeking their first win of the 2025/26 season when they hosted Burnley on Saturday in the aftermath of a humiliating EFL Cup exit at fourth-tier Grimsby Town on Wednesday.

Tottenham hosted Bournemouth with the chance to extend their perfect start to three matches, while Brentford and Sunderland were seeking their second victories of the campaign at the Stadium of Light and Everton headed to a Wolves side yet to earn a point.

Here’s what happened in the Premier League results today, including scorers, highlights and where each team ended up in the standings before Newcastle visited Leeds United.

Man United 3-2 Burnley: Fernandes wins it with late penalty

Manchester United finally earned their first win of the Premier League season in dramatic fashion, as Bruno Fernandes struck a stoppage-time penalty to seal a 3-2 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford.

United started strongly and were rewarded midway through the first half when Casemiro’s header crashed against the crossbar and rebounded in off Josh Cullen for an own goal. The hosts dominated before the break, with Amad and Mason Mount both going close, but failed to extend their lead.

That wastefulness was punished after the restart. Lyle Foster finished neatly from Jacob Bruun Larsen’s cross to bring Burnley level, only for Bryan Mbeumo to restore United’s advantage almost instantly.

The end-to-end contest continued when Jaidon Anthony pounced on a rebound to equalise once more for the Clarets, setting up a tense finale. Burnley even thought they had gone ahead when Foster found the net again, but VAR intervened to rule the striker narrowly offside.

With the game heading for a draw, United were handed a lifeline deep into stoppage time. Anthony tugged Amad’s shirt inside the box, prompting a VAR review and a late penalty. Captain Fernandes held his nerve, sending Martin Dubravka the wrong way and sparking wild celebrations among the home crowd.

Tottenham 0-1 Bournemouth: Spurs stunned by electric Cherries

Bournemouth claimed an impressive 1-0 victory over Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Evanilson’s early strike proving enough to secure all three points.

The visitors made a dream start, breaking the deadlock inside five minutes. Marcos Senesi threaded a clever pass into Evanilson, whose shot took a heavy deflection off Cristian Romero before looping past Guglielmo Vicario. The Brazilian forward almost doubled his tally moments later but dragged his effort wide.

Spurs, meanwhile, endured a nightmare first half, failing to register a single shot. Bournemouth continued to threaten, with Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson both coming close, while their pressing and energy kept the hosts penned back.

The Cherries should have extended their lead after the restart. Vicario denied Evanilson from close range before David Brooks struck the crossbar in a chaotic passage of play.

Tavernier later fired into the side netting after another defensive lapse from Spurs.

Tottenham’s only real opportunity came deep into stoppage time when Destiny Udogie headed narrowly wide from a set piece. It summed up a flat display from Thomas Frank’s men, who struggled for rhythm and creativity throughout.

Sunderland 2-1 Brentford: Black Cats grab stoppage-time winner

A last-gasp Wilson Isidor header completed a stunning Sunderland comeback as they edged Brentford 2-1 in a pulsating Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.

The game burst into life in the second half after a cagey opening 45 minutes, where Brentford had a goal from Dango Ouattara ruled out for offside and Sunderland dominated possession without troubling the goalkeeper.

After the restart, Brentford were awarded a penalty when Reinildo hauled down Nathan Collins, but Kevin Schade’s tame effort was saved by Roefs to keep the scoreline level.

The reprieve was short-lived, however, as substitute Frank Onyeka delivered a pinpoint cross for Igor Thiago, who powered a header in off the underside of the bar to give the visitors the lead on 77 minutes.

Sunderland’s response was immediate. Within minutes, Henry fouled Diarra inside the area and Enzo Le Fee stepped up to dispatch the penalty confidently, restoring parity and igniting the home crowd.

The game looked destined for a draw until deep into stoppage time, when Granit Xhaka curled in a superb cross from the left and Isidor rose highest between Collins and Van den Berg to glance a header beyond Kelleher. VAR checked but cleared the goal, sparking wild celebrations inside the Stadium of Light.

Wolves 2-3 Everton: Grealish stars again

Everton claimed a thrilling 3-2 win over Wolves at a rain-soaked Molineux, with Jack Grealish starring as the Toffees picked up three valuable points.

David Moyes’ men made the perfect start, taking the lead after just seven minutes. Iliman Ndiaye drifted inside and found Vitaliy Mykolenko, whose cross was nodded back across goal by Grealish for Beto to head home from close range.

Wolves, however, responded in the 21st minute as Marshall Munetsi’s low ball was met by Hee-Chan Hwang, who powered his finish beyond Jordan Pickford.

Parity didn’t last long. On 33 minutes, Grealish again provided the spark, slipping Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall down the left. His cut-back was dummied by Beto and turned in by Ndiaye to restore Everton’s advantage.

The Senegal international thought he had added a second just after the break, only to see it ruled out for offside, but Everton quickly found a third. Grealish drove forward before releasing Dewsbury-Hall, who rifled a stunning strike into the top corner off the underside of the bar.

At 3-1, the visitors appeared comfortable, yet Wolves mounted a late rally. Substitute David Moller Wolfe delivered a perfect low cross for Rodrigo Gomes to fire home on 79 minutes, setting up a nervy finish.

Pickford was called into action again deep in stoppage time, denying Bellegarde before Gomes dragged the rebound wide.
