Barcelona name asking price for Chelsea target Fermin Lopez

Barcelona would be willing to sell midfielder Fermin Lopez but only if two conditions were met.

The Catalan club would prefer to keep the 22-year-old but accept any revenue raised from the sale of Fermin would be useful in their ongoing bid to meet La Liga’s financial requirements and enable them to ensure all their new signings are registered.

Barcelona-based newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim a fee of €70million would be needed for them to consider losing a player who has been with the club since the age of 12 while Fermin himself would also need to express a desire to move to Stamford Bridge.

Fermin may be tempted by Chelsea switch

Fermin signed a new contract in October last year which ties him to Barca until 2029. He made 46 appearances for the club last season as they completed the Liga and Copa del Rey double, scoring eight goals and adding 10 assists. He was used mainly as a substitute, however, and may be tempted to secure a move that would give him more first-team opportunities, particularly with the World Cup looming in 2026.

Despite having a large squad, Chelsea are a little short in midfield having sold Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu this summer.

They are still expected to complete a move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho before Monday’s transfer deadline while RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is another potential target.

Enzo Maresca’s side have taken four points from their opening two Premier League games – a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace and a 5-1 win at West Ham on Friday night.
