Graham Potter still believes in his West Ham players despite their disappointing start to the Premier League season.
The Hammers were thrashed 3-0 at newly promoted Sunderland last Saturday after an abject second-half display saw the Wearsiders cruise to victory.
It has been a relatively quiet summer on the transfer front with Potter bringing in Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf and Mads Hermansen but the former Chelsea boss believes there is still enough quality within the group to succeed this season.
Itâs not about bringing new players in â Potter
Speaking ahead of tomorrow nightâs home game with Chelsea, he said: âWe have to get more out of the squad that we have. We also look to improve, we will do that together, as a club, we will do that collectively and try to find the best solution.
âItâs great when youâve had a bad result, everyone thinks the silver bullet will come from outside and save us all. History would suggest it doesnât work like that.
âItâs about being a team and accepting the criticism when a bad result comes but to get on with your work and accept responsibility.â
âItâs up to us to reactâ
The opening-day defeat was a sobering setback for West Ham and Potter is aware the pressure will increase if there are many more.
He added: âItâs a disappointing result, thereâs no getting away from that. Itâs a bad result for us.
âI believe a lot in the players, believe a lot in the team, I believe a lot in the club and my job is to support them and to push and to improve.
âItâs the Premier League, we canât turn up anywhere and think we are going to get three points. We know we need to do more, to improve our performance. The players were gutted after the game.
âItâs up to us to react and perform.â
The one positive for Potter ahead of the Chelsea clash is the lack of injuries within his squad.
âEverybodyâs fine. George Earthy trained with group today. Luis Guilherme went over on his shoulder the week before the game so he is still missing but apart from that everybody is okay,â he said.
