Confirmed line-ups as Los Blancos kick off LaLiga campaign

Xabi Alonso will get his first taste of life in La Liga as Real Madrid manager when his side begin their domestic campaign with the visit of Osasuna.

There have been changes aplenty at the Bernabeu this summer, with the arrival of Alonso in the dugout followed by additions to the squad in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras.

Legendary midfielder Luka Modric departed after 13 years at the club, while veteran player Lucas Vazquez also left.

Alonso will be keen to start the season, and indeed his tenure, strongly after Madrid endured a largely disappointing league campaign last term, where they finished runners-up behind arch rivals Barcelona.

Osasuna, meanwhile, will be hoping to improve on a ninth placed finish last time around.

Here are how the two teams line up for this encounter in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid team news

Alonso hands league debuts to three of the club’s new signings, with Alexander-Arnold, Huijsen and Carreras all named in the starting team.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham is still recovering from planned shoulder surgery so misses the game, while defender Antonio Rudiger is absent due to a suspension carried over from last season.

Fede Valverde skippers the side with club captain Dani Carvajal on the bench, while a front three of Kylian Mbappe, Brahim Diaz and Vinicius Jr will provide the goal threat.

Argentine prodigy Franco Mastantuono is also named among the substitutes.

Starting XI: Courtois, Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Huijsen, Carreras, Guler, Tchouameni, Valverde, Brahim, Mbappe, Vinicius

Osasuna team news

The visitors have a debutant of their own this evening in Valentin Rosier. The full-back signed in the summer on a free transfer from Leganes, who were relegated last season.

Croatia striker Ante Budimir, who at 34 had a fine season in 2024-25 as he bagged 21 La Liga goals to finish third in the league’s scoring charts, behind Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski.

Ruben Garcia had been a doubt earlier this week but makes the starting team for his 200th appearance for the club.

Iker Benito, another pre-match doubt, does indeed miss out.

Starting XI: Herrera, Rosier, Boyomo, Catena, Cruz, Bretones, Moncayola, Torro, Oroz, Garcia, Budimir
