Richarlison scores screamer as Spurs beat Burnley, Sunderland win on Premier League return and Fulham snatch Brighton draw

Richarlison’s two goals including an acrobatic second earned Tottenham a 3-0 victory over Burnley in Thomas Frank’s first Premier League game in charge.

The Brazilian opened the scoring after just 10 minutes against the newly-promoted side with a nicely guided finish into the far corner, before a stunning bicycle kick after the break, with both goals assisted by new signing Mohammed Kudus.

Brennan Johnson added a third goal for Spurs shortly after as the Europa League winners made a hugely encouraging start to the league campaign under Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Sunderland secure dream Premier League return

Sunderland marked their Premier League return after seven years away with a 3-0 win over West Ham at a rapturous Stadium of Light.

After a well-contested first-half against the Hammers, Eliezer Mayenda headed past Mads Hermansen into the far corner just after the hour mark to put the Black Cats in front.

Moments later, the home crowd was rocking again as Dan Ballard, one of the heroes of their promotion via the Championship play-offs, rose highest to power a header into the back of the net to set the hosts up for a brilliant victory.

Any fears of a nervy conclusion were extinguished in added time when substitute Wilson Isidor cut inside and found the corner to cap off a dream day for Sunderland.

Brighton edge Fulham through O’Reilly penalty

In Saturday’s other 3pm game, Fulham scored in the sixth minute of stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw at Brighton.

After a tight first half, O’Reilly scored the decisive goal by coolly slotting home from the spot after Georginio Rutter was tripped by Sander Berge.

Fukham went close through Alex Iwobi and Joshua King, while Kaoru Mitoma could easily have doubled the scoreline.

But just went the points looked to be going to the Seagulls, substitute Rodrigo Muniz came off the bench to score the equaliser with virtually the last kick of the game to earn a share of the spoils.
