Roma make £20m bid for Jadon Sancho

Roma have reportedly made a £20m offer to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

The United outcast, who returned to the Red Devils this summer after spending last season on loan at Chelsea, is currently excluded from training with Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad and has been told to find a new club.

The 25-year-old is among several players to have been ostracised by the Portuguese coach, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrrell Malacia all training separately from the rest of the team and seeking an exit from Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford, another who seemingly fell out of favour with Amorim, has been loaned to Barcelona for the upcoming campaign.

Sancho joined United for £73m four years ago after impressing in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund.

The forward has made just 83 United appearances since 2021, scoring 12 goals. His contract at Old Trafford runs for another year but it seems unlikely he will feature under Amorim, with Roma’s bid, as well as reported interest from fellow Serie A side Juventus, appearing to be a possible route out for the England international.

It is thought the Giallorossi may be willing to take Sancho on loan, a move that, given the player’s salary, would see United take a significant sum off their wage bill.

Sancho, who has 23 senior England caps, last appeared for United in the Community Shield last season, when his penalty was saved in the shoot-out loss to Manchester City, the club he played for as a youth team player.
