The first European trophy of the new season is up for grabs as Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain take on Europa League victors Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup final in Udine.
The French champions were mightily impressive on the continent last term, culminating in a record-breaking 5-0 victory over Inter in the final in Munich.
They did prove not entirely impenetrable, though, with Chelsea edging them in the Club World Cup final last month.
Spurs, meanwhile, ended their 17-year wait for a trophy in memorable fashion, overcoming fellow Premier League side Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao.
However, the triumph was not enough to overshadow their dismal domestic showing last term and it proved to be the end for boss Ange Postecoglou.
Thomas Frank has since taken charge and the task does not get much more challenging than this.
Here are how the two teams line up in Italy.
Paris Saint-Germain team news
The big news from the Parisian camp is the absence of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose future at the Champions League winners looks increasingly in doubt.
Lucas Chevalier starts between the sticks in place of the Italian while, in midfield, Warren Zaïre-Emery comes in for the suspended Joao Neves, who was sent off in the final of the Club World Cup.
A devastating front-line of Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is sure to keep the Spurs defence on their toes.
Starting XI: Chevalier; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Barcola, Doue, Kvaratskhelia; Dembele
Subs: Bellucci, Hernandez, Kamara, Lee, Beraldo, Ramos, Mbaye, Ruiz, Safonov
Tottenham team news
Cristian Romero will get his first competitive run out as the new club captain, marshalling a back-line comprising Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven.
Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Sarr and new signing Palhinha are tasked with nullifying PSG’s lively attacking threat, while with Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin both still sidelined, and James Maddison out with an ACL injury, Frank starts Djed Spence, Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus at the top end of the pitch.
The returning Dominic Solanke can only make the bench.
Starting XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Danso, Spence; Bentancur, Sarr, Palhinha; Kudus, Richarlison
Subs: Kinsky, Austin, Davies, Vuskovic, Byfield, Gray. Bergvall, Odobert, Tel, Johnson, Solanke
