Arsenal close in on Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres deals

Arsenal are edging closer to securing the signing of Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

The player has now agreed personal terms, bringing a transfer to the Premier League side touching distance ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Reports have confirmed that negotiations were underway between the two clubs. Now, with personal terms settled, the move is gathering further momentum as the Gunners look to finalise the deal.

Manager Mikel Arteta has been keen to bolster his defensive options, particularly with a young and versatile player who can provide cover and competition for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Mosquera fits that profile, capable of operating both at centre-back and on the right side of defence.

His signing would address a vacancy in the squad following the recent departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu, whose contract was ended by mutual agreement. The addition of Mosquera offers not only depth but long-term potential in the backline.

At just 21 years old, Mosquera has already built up considerable top-flight experience. A Spain Under-21 international, he has made 90 senior appearances for Valencia and featured prominently in the 2024-25 campaign, playing every minute in 37 of the club’s 38 La Liga fixtures.

Arsenal have been proactive throughout this summer’s transfer window.

The club has already secured several key signings, including midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Christian Norgaard from Brentford, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who arrived from Chelsea.

Additionally, Arsenal are pushing to finalise a major move for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Talks are said to be in advanced stages, with the Gunners aiming to complete a deal within the next 24 hours. The proposed fee stands at €73.5 million (£63.5 million).
